2022 NFL picks, score predictions for Week 16
Seattle Seahawks (7-7) at Kansas City Chiefs (11-3)
Saturday, December 24, 1:00 PM ET
The Seattle Seahawks are reeling right now. After starting the season a very impressive 6-3, boasting one of the game’s top offensive attacks, the Seahawks have lost four out of their last five games with the only win coming against the injury-ravaged Los Angeles Rams.
At 7-7, the Seahawks playoff hopes are dwindling by the week. They just got beat last week by the Brock Purdy-led San Francisco 49ers in somewhat of a must-win game for the season. Seattle’s slide right now makes this week’s matchup in Kansas City feel like a David vs. Goliath type of situation.
The Seahawks rank 29th in the NFL in points allowed this season and 29th in total yards allowed, while the Kansas City Chiefs are obviously one of the most well-oiled machines in the league. Although we’ve seen some performances from Patrick Mahomes in recent weeks that would make you think a team like the Seahawks (capable of creating a lot of turnovers) could get the job done, how could you project Mahomes to lose at home in December to a team that’s lost four of its last five games?
The Seahawks have shown this season that they have the firepower offensively to beat a team like Kansas City. They’ve shown the ability to score points in bunches, there’s no question about it. The Seahawks also have a number of players on the roster like Noah Fant and Shelby Harris — former Denver Broncos — who have been itching the last few years to beat the Chiefs.
Ultimately I think this game could be a ton of fun for football fans. The Chiefs’ defense hasn’t been very good lately although like the Seahawks, they’ve come up with some timely turnovers to help them keep pace at the top of the AFC with Buffalo. For this week’s NFL picks, though, I’m taking the safe pick here and will save the “upset of the week” for another game.
Kansas City has too much firepower offensively for the Seahawks to outlast them on the road.
Prediction: Chiefs win 34-27
