New York Giants (8-5-1) at Minnesota Vikings (11-3)

Saturday, December 24, 1:00 PM ET

It’s too bad the NFL isn’t getting this game to the general population and national audience. This might be the game of the week between two teams that have been two of the bigger surprises in the NFL so far this season.

We’ve got to start off by talking about the Minnesota Vikings, who are fresh off of the biggest comeback in NFL history. As the seconds ticked by in the Vikings’ comeback win over the Indianapolis Colts last week, I don’t think anybody watching could really believe their eyes. The comeback actually ended up being harder than it had to be for the Vikings because the officials in this game incorrectly called a play dead that should have been a live ball and fumble recovery touchdown for the Vikings late.

At any rate, it didn’t end up mattering as Minnesota climbed back from a 33-0 halftime deficit to somehow win this game in overtime. Those who watched it will agree — it was as incredible to watch as it sounds on paper.

The Vikings won’t be able to get into that kind of a hole against a defense like the Giants, who deserve some serious respect at this point. There has been no proverbial rookie wall for Kayvon Thibodeaux, who is blossoming into one of the biggest impact defenders before our eyes each week.

Playing at home and coming off of yet another emotional and miraculous win (remember their game earlier this year against Buffalo?), the Vikings are currently 3.5-point favorites over the Giants which sounds about right.

These are two teams that have been very difficult for me in NFL picks all year but I do like the Vikings playing at home in this one.

Prediction: Vikings win 27-23
