Where would Davante Adams go?

Davante Adams should request a trade away from the team where the head coach and owner are going* to cut his best friend. The Raiders have elected to take a top 5 offensive roster and rebuild the team with a new quarterback as it is clear there is no definitive plan in place. The Raiders won’t be in a draft position to trade up and select Alabama’s Bryce Young or Ohio State’s CJ Stroud so who will Adams be catching passes from? For someone to be as good as Davante Adams he should have the luxury of picking his quarterback, which he did, but that plan has been altered beyond his control.

Any team in the NFL would shell out the money required to sign Davante Adams and it is easy to think of teams that could require his services that have the money, the vacancy, and the quarterback to make it happen. Which two teams? Two other AFC West teams; the Kansas City Chiefs and the Los Angeles Chargers. Quarterbacks Patrick Mahomes and Justin Herbert are exceptional and both teams are always contenders. The Chiefs lack a true #1 receiver while the Chargers’ top receiver, Keenan Allen, has been hurt most of the year and is not as good as he once was.

Those are two teams that could lure Davante Adams away just within the same division, ironically the same division as the Raiders, but you could easily find a team in each division that has a need for a player of Adams’ caliber.

As a Raiders fan, this is heartbreaking to even consider. Being disrespectful to Derek Carr is hard enough to stomach but wasting away the final years of Davante Adams’s career is unforgivable. It will be a true roller coaster for the Raiders this offseason and hopefully, the ride doesn’t go off the rails.
