Are the Dallas Cowboys going to swoop in on that no. 1 seed in the NFC playoff race? Never say “never”, especially with the way the 2022 NFL season has gone thus far. Expecting the unexpected has borderline become the norm.

The Cowboys are fresh off of a borderline gimme win against the Tennessee Titans this past week as the Titans benched a handful of key players in anticipation of their AFC South title game here in Week 18 of the season. Let’s take a look at what Dallas needs in order to earn the no. 1 seed in the NFC this weekend.

Dallas Cowboys can be the no. 1 seed in the NFC with:

  • A win vs. Washington
  • Eagles loss
  • 49ers loss

Now, that’s quite a tall order and it starts with taking care of business against the Commanders, who have lost all hope over the last three weeks. For a bit, it looked like the Commanders were going to get into the playoff one pair of vintage Air Jordan shoes at a time, but their playoff hopes ended with their latest loss.

Now, it could be Sam Howell time for the Commanders. At least, it would be wise for them to get a look at the talented rookie out of North Carolina. If the Commanders are in evaluation mode, this could go one of two ways:

Either Howell will come out and look like an absolute stud, causing every Commanders fan to wonder why he hasn’t been playing, or…

The Cowboys will just run them out of the building quickly and take care of business. If I were betting on this game, I would feel pretty confident picking the Cowboys as they pursue both the NFC East title as well as the no. 1 overall seed.

Prediction: Cowboys win 27-16
