Detroit Lions (8-8) at Green Bay Packers (8-8)

Sunday, January 8, 8:20 PM ET

Football is fun. Just a few weeks ago, Packers QB Aaron Rodgers was on The Pat McAfee Show talking about how the Packers weren’t out of it when it seemed like they very much were. The calm, collected, back-to-back MVP has put his team back in position to make some noise here in January, with one big knee-biting barrier standing in his way.

The Detroit Lions.

The Lions have been one of the most fun NFL teams all season long. They are capable of scoring in bunches and they are playing galvanized here in the second half of the 2022 season. Unfortunately, they lost one too many games before facing this daunting task to end the 2022 season.

The Lions have to travel to Green Bay to face the Packers with both teams in a must-win situation. This is simply not the type of environment the Lions have succeeded in in the past. If Dan Campbell’s crew is able to go into Green Bay and win this weekend, he probably deserves Coach of the Year honors.

Not that the Packers are undefeated world-beaters or anything, but there’s so much stacked against Detroit in this game. The Packers are hot and they are more experienced in these kinds of situations. Not that everyone is hoping the Packers lose this game, but it would be a ton of fun to see Detroit get into the playoffs.

In order for that to happen, they would need to win and they would also need Seattle to lose. The Packers win and they’re in. As far as making NFL picks for this week, I’m taking the back-to-back MVP on his home field in a must-win situation. But the Lions will fight to the end.

Prediction: Packers win 27-23
