Doctors deliver Damar Hamlin a heartwarming, tear-jerking message
After what took place on Monday night in Cincinnati, the game of football has just been trivial for so many fans. Buffalo Bills safety Damar Hamlin went into cardiac arrest on the field, and CPR was administered before he was taken to the ICU for further treatment and evaluation. Although many football fans lost sleep over wondering what was going to happen to Hamlin, the updates that have come from the UC Medical Center have been nothing short of miraculous.
One of the latest messages on Hamlin from the Buffalo Bills talked about “remarkable improvement” over the last 24 hours.

In order for Damar Hamlin’s status to improve from “critical condition” to “stable condition”, he will need to begin breathing completely on his own and without the help of breathing tubes. Until that happens, he remains “critically ill” but there have been substantial improvements, which is the primary focus right now.
Hamlin has reportedly been regaining cognitive function to the point that he’s holding the hands of healthcare workers and loved ones. He was even apparently able to ask a question in writing after regaining cognitive function. As you could imagine, he had his Buffalo Bills brothers on his mind.

According to reports, the response Hamlin got from the doctors was like it was straight out of a movie.
“Yes, you won. You’ve won the game of life.”
It’s hard to imagine all that could be going through Damar Hamlin‘s mind at the moment he regained consciousness. The last thing he likely remembers is being on the field, and he may not have a full grasp of the severity of what occurred on the football field just a few nights ago. With that being said, doctors informed him of what happened and as you might have guessed, he was surprised to learn that multiple days had passed since this all took place.
UC health physicians told Damar Hamlin what happened to him. He expressed surprise through writing that he hasn’t been with world for two days. Today he’s started to be made aware of all the support.

His responses show: “It’s not just the lights are on. It appears he’s whole.”
As we eagerly await more positive word on Hamlin’s health, doctors also stated that it’s far too early in the recovery process right now to start thinking about when or if Hamlin will ever play football again, because that question apparently came up. Of course, the fact that Hamlin is alive today is miraculous in itself, and the fact that “he’s whole” in terms of his cognitive function is also miraculous.
As the entire sports world joined together to pray for Hamlin and his medical situation, everyone is also galvanized by news of his recovery, slow and steady as it may be.
