Fantasy football keeper leagues: 5 best running backs to keep in 2023
By Devin Lange
2. Tony Pollard, Cowboys
Currently ranked as RB7 in both STD leagues and PPR leagues, some viewed Tony Pollard as a handcuff to Ezekiel Elliott this season, and nothing more. However, I viewed Tony Pollard as more than a handcuff this season. The 25-year-old Pollard is another upcoming free agent this offseason but has shown more explosiveness and pass-catching ability than most lead backs in the NFL right now. Including Zeke. His best fit would be staying with the Cowboys and stealing roaches from 27-year-old Elliott, but he would be serviceable in the other 31 offenses.
With an ADP of 79 in STD leagues and 86 in PPR leagues in 2022, this will be the last draft you see Pollard discounted in. Congratulations to those of you that drafted him late as either a 0RB target or handcuff, do yourself two favors. 1. Pat yourself on the back 2. Keep the more promising back in 2023. Especially if you are in a PPR fantasy football league.
3. Miles Sanders, Eagles
Currently ranked as RB10 in STD leagues and RB13 in PPR leagues, we are finally starting to see Sanders revert to his old self. After finishing as RB16 in STD leagues and RB14 in PPR leagues in his rookie season, 2019, we saw him fall outside of the top 20 in 2020 and outside of the top 40 in 2021. Although missing four games each season did attribute to that, so did a lack of opportunities and execution. I think I speak for all of us when I say we are glad to see a healthy and productive Sanders back in this fun-to-watch offense.
With an ADP of 83 in both STD leagues and PPR leagues in 2022, there were many concerns surrounding the scatback. But Sanders and the Eagles have proved many people wrong this season. Luckily for the Eagles, their core offensive players, including Sanders, are young. He is only 25 years old. I recommend drafting as many Eagles as possible in fantasy football in 2023, which means I also recommend keeping Sanders in keeper leagues in 2023.
