Jimmy Garoppolo is a free agent in 2023 — is he one of the best? Everyone’s got an opinion about Jimmy Garoppolo, but the reality is — the guy can help your team become better. Can he make your team a “contender” in 2023? I say yes.

Garoppolo has now done this three times under Kyle Shanahan with the San Francisco 49ers. Although Shanahan’s system and the players around Garoppolo have been strong, there’s no doubt that Jimmy G. can excel in executing the basics and especially the short game from the QB position. If you’re asking this guy to lead the league in 40-yard throws, he might not be for you.

But I think he’s proven now three times that he’s a guy who can elevate an offense, even if he does have a hard time staying healthy. Let’s look at five teams that could be contenders in 2023 with Jimmy Garoppolo under center.

1. Tennessee Titans

It’s become abundantly clear, as the Titans prepare to start Joshua Dobbs in a must-win game against the Jacksonville Jaguars on Saturday, that a new quarterback is needed in Nashville. The Titans have found great success by rolling with Ryan Tannehill, who has become the poster child for reclamation projects, since the 2019 season. They’ve been one of the league’s toughest teams and head coach Mike Vrabel deserves a ton of credit for what he’s been able to do there.

Unfortunately, things took a turn for the worse in 2022 as Tannehill has not played overly well and has missed some time. Malik Willis has been benched for Joshua Dobbs.

You don’t think a player like Jimmy G. could come in and elevate guys like Treylon Burks and Chig Okonkwo? The Titans need to add some more pieces in the passing game but Garoppolo would help this team.
