Scouting Report. player. 36. Pick Analysis. EDGE. Texas Tech. Tyree Wilson. 20

20. Seattle Seahawks: Tyree Wilson, EDGE, Texas Tech

They got themselves a quarterback with their first pick, bringing in Will Levis. That was thanks to the selection they had from the Russell Wilson trade. Now, they’re back on the clock and they decide to add more depth to the defensive line with Tyree Wilson from Texas Tech.

Wilson is a prototypical defensive lineman for Pete Carroll since he stands 6-foot-6 and 275 pounds. He’s a powerful player on the edge, and especially good at setting the edge in the run game. He can also slide inside and play the 3-tech when needed, and can be a real problem for opponents when rushing the passer from the interior.

Originally a member of Texas A&M, Wilson transferred following his freshman campaign. He then spent the next three seasons with the Red Raiders and continued to improve each season. He had 109 tackles with 29 going for a loss during that time and 15.5 sacks. He also added a forced fumble this past season.

In Seattle, they’ll likely either roll with Geno Smith or a rookie, and making sure they can keep the score low will be a huge plus for them. Adding Wilson helps in this regard.
