2023 NFL Mock Draft: Cowboys stock up offense, Panthers reach at QB
By Randy Gurzi
25. Dallas Cowboys: Jalin Hyatt, WR, Tennessee
One thing that stood out in the Dallas Cowboys loss to the Washington Commanders in Week 18 was the inability of anyone not named CeeDee Lamb to create separation. Michael Gallup had a rough campaign and while Noah Brown had his best season ever, he’s not exactly a game-changer. T.Y. Hilton could help in the playoffs but he’s on the wrong side of 30 and not likely to return in 2023.
Simply put, the Cowboys guess right on Lamb’s ability to be a No. 1 wideout without Amari Cooper but they whiffed on the rest of the roster. So now, they start to rebuild the unit as they bring in Tennessee’s Jalin Hyatt.
A breakout star this season, Hyatt wasn’t even on the map until putting up 1,267 yards and 15 touchdowns for the Volunteers. His most impressive performance was against Alabama when he had six receptions for 207 yards and five touchdowns.
Hyatt is an explosive athlete that defensive backs struggle to keep up with. He also doesn’t drop many passes. However, he does need to work on his route tree but even with that limitation, he would likely be the No. 2 wideout on Dallas right now. And if they want to see Dak Prescott and the offense take a step forward in 2023, they need someone like Hyatt to help open things up.
