2023 NFL Mock Draft: Cowboys stock up offense, Panthers reach at QB
By Randy Gurzi
27. Minnesota Vikings: B.J. Ojulari, EDGE, LSU
The Minnesota Vikings had a great campaign under rookie head coach Kevin O’Connell. The former Los Angeles Rams offensive coordinator had a great impact on this offense and they wound up going 13-4 on the season. They finished with an easy win over the Chicago Bears and will be the No. 2 seed in the NFC.
What makes them tough on offense is their ability to win with either the run or the pass. Kirk Cousins played very well this season and they have seen both Dalvin Cook and Alexander Mattison put up solid performances.
Having said that, their defense was a problem this year. What was once their strong point, they now need to make some moves to get that side of the ball back on track. They make strides here as they add B.J. Ojulari from LSU.
The younger brother of Azeez Ojulari who went to Georgia and plays for the New York Giants, Azeez broke out with 9.5 sacks this past season for the Tigers. He should be able to start opposite Danielle Hunter, another LSU product, and eventually take the reins as the No. 1 edge rusher. Like most teams that need to rebuild a defense, he can’t do it alone but Ojulari’s ability to get after the quarterback will make it easier on those who play behind him.
