2023 NFL Mock Draft: Cowboys stock up offense, Panthers reach at QB

5. Seattle Seahawks (via Denver Broncos): Will Levis, QB, Kentucky
Every once in a while, teams talk themselves into a player because he fits a certain mold. This was the case when the Jacksonville Jaguars convinced themselves Blaine Gabbert was worth an early Round 1 pick. Gabbert was never a bad player but he’s been a career backup that was over-drafted since he was 6-foot-4 and 220 pounds with a strong arm.
The same happened with the New York Giants, who took Daniel Jones far too early because he fit the mold. He also played in a pro-style offense and while he’s been better than Gabbert, he’s also never lived up to his lofty draft status.
This year, that could be what we see happen with Will Levis. The Kentucky product is a good quarterback who plays in a pro-style offense. He’s also 6-foot-3 and 232 pounds with a strong arm. The problem is, he’s far from refined and struggles with deep accuracy.
Still, the Seattle Seahawks — who clearly won the Russell Wilson trade — are willing to bring him in at No. 5. The good things for them is they can bring Geno Smith back, who played very well this season. He can continue to start as they help Levis work on his technique before taking over.
