The NFL is behind the times in these 4 areas that need changed

The league wanted to have an 18 game schedule but aside from paying players more money for the extra game, the NFL failed to protect their product.
An 18-game schedule is great for the league, it’s not a bad thing for the players and it is fantastic for the fans but with that extra game comes more health-related issues. The league did nothing to address this.
The NFL wants you to believe that player health is important but adding another game without giving the players an extra bye week didn’t make much sense, o.k. two bye weeks in a season might not have been absolutely doable but the league maintained a 53-man roster and that has to change.
This is where the NFLPA failed. They should have stood their ground in CBA negotiations and made the league increase the roster size or at the very least, do away with the practice squad entirely.
Instead, the league eased some of the PS requirements. Players that were previously not eligible for the PS are and players can be added to the 53, three times before they have to be signed for the season.
The easiest way to do this, again, is to eliminate the PS and make all players active. The NFL can still make teams only keep a certain amount of players active for the game thus making the weekly inactive list larger, but it would solve some of the injury issues a lot easier.
The league also must go back to a previous roster rule where teams carried an emergency quarterback on the roster that did not play but if activated during the game, previous QBs could not return. Too many QB injuries this year have had direct impacts on game outcomes.
