4. San Francisco 49ers

Will the San Francisco 49ers be presented with the chance to right their wrong from 2005? Will they even want to? I think how the 2022-23 season ends will certainly make a huge difference with what the 49ers choose to do at the quarterback position in 2023.

Before discussing the thought of Aaron Rodgers in San Francisco with Kyle Shanahan, we need to first look at the situation the 49ers are in. Rookie quarterback Brock Purdy has been sensational in a smaller sample size.

He’s started five games for the team. The 49ers have won all five. He has multiple touchdowns in every game he’s started. He’s doing more than just facilitating the offense. Brock Purdy, as of right now, is looking like a viable option for the 49ers going forward but he will now have to face the test of the NFL postseason. Will he continue to thrive now that the stakes are much higher?

Let’s not forget, there was once a time when Purdy was being discussed as a potential first-round prospect. That obviously never came to fruition, but he’s been playing better than many first-rounders we’ve seen in recent years.

With all of that being said, who knows what the future may hold at QB for the 49ers? I think, if nothing else, they are an interesting wild card in the QB discussion, and while there are more likely landing spots for Rodgers, can you imagine him working with Shanahan? It would be fascinating.
