It has now been reported by several sources that Arizona Cardinals wide receiver, DeAndre Hopkins, is likely going to be traded during the 2023 NFL offseason.

Just one year after an offseason loaded with blockbuster receiver trades, could 2023 bring even more fireworks?

While Hopkins was suspended for the first six games of the season due to a violation of the substance abuse policy he was an instant game-changer when he returned. The Cardinals will miss Hopkins as he still hauled in 64 receptions for 717 yards while only playing in 9 games with three different quarterbacks. Head coach Kliff Kingsbury has been fired and quarterback Kyler Murray unable to return until midway through next season it wouldn’t be shocking if Hopkins is ready to move on as well. At times we even saw Hopkins appear frustrated with Murray on the sidelines.

Let’s look at five teams that are possible destinations for the star receiver this offseason.

DeAndre Hopkins destination no. 5: Kansas City Chiefs

While the Kansas City Chiefs are easily the best team to make this list they will certainly be on the market for a wide receiver this offseason. Juju Smith-Schuster, Mecole Hardman, and Justin Watson are all on one-year deals that expire this season leaving three possible vacancies on the roster.

It would be a no-brainer to solidify some of the cash possible used to obtain mid-tier receivers and instead sign a superstar such as DeAndre Hopkins. Chiefs general manager Brett Veach has a knack for adding game-changers to his roster when the sports world believes they can’t possibly have cap space for another one. It would not be a surprise to see Veach make a splash move such as this. Pairing newcomer Kadarius Toney with Hopkins would generate “danger alerts” to every opposing team’s defense.

Patrick Mahomes has thrived without Tyreek Hill finishing the regular season with a 14-3 record, first place in the AFC, and set the NFL record for most passing yards in a regular season (5,614). It would be a classic Chiefs move to secure a weapon like this for Mahomes and continue to keep them above the rest for the 2023 season.
