DeAndre Hopkins destination no. 4: Tennessee Titans

The Tennessee Titans just fired their offensive coordinator and general manager for good reason. General manager Jon Robinson traded away their top receiver, AJ Brown, and replaced him with Treylon Burks in the first round of the draft. We all remember Mike Vrabel’s reaction when AJ Brown was traded. He knew that it would change their offense and not for the better.

The Titans’ offense was uninspiring even with the mighty running back, Derrick Henry, leading the charge. The offense was hampered by a lack of separation, catching ability by their receivers, and poor play from their rotating door of quarterbacks.

The Titans are known as a “run first” offense which made them easier to dissect for opposing defenses. Their starting quarterback, Ryan Tannehill, threw for less than 3,000 yards with only 13 passing touchdowns. The offense needs to be completely revamped and removing offensive coordinator Todd Downing was a start. The next piece comes with adding a receiver to not only energize and mentor younger receivers but to add a spark to the offense that will change their scheme entirely.

Hopkins is an easy fix to the Titans’ woes as their defense has always been formidable with head coach Mike Vrabel’s defensive acumen. Instead of looking for another receiver in the first round, the Titans’ new general manager (TBD) should look to trade for Hopkins and add a sure thing to their roster.
