In addition to the offensive line, the Denver Broncos could wind up making wholesale changes to their special teams unit in the 2023 offseason.

We’re talking long snapper, punter, returner, and even kicker where Brandon McManus has been a mainstay for a while now. McManus is the last remnant of the Super Bowl 50 roster for the Denver Broncos, and unfortunately, he’s coming off of one of the worst seasons of his NFL career.

The Broncos did trot out McManus for some very long field goal attempts, to be fair, but he missed a field goal inside of 30 yards this season along with three total missed kicks inside of 40 yards and a pair of extra points missed.

He missed five kicks from 50-plus, and attempted more kicks from 50-plus than any other distance this season. In McManus’ defense, that’s a lot of long-distance kicking, but unfair or not, he’s the kicker of an NFL team and you’ve got to make lemonade in those situations.

McManus was clutch for the Broncos on their Super Bowl 50 run. He made all 10 of his kicks in that playoff run and nailed every extra point. You can’t expect 100 percent success rate from any kicker, but McManus’ accuracy and consistency have been more erratic of late.

The Broncos would save over $2.5 million in cap space by letting McManus hit free agency.
