The San Francisco 49ers advanced to the second round of the NFL Playoffs with a win over Seattle and we look at the studs and duds from the win

The Seattle Seahawks hung around for just over one half but the San Francisco 49ers turned it up a notch — or two — in the second half as they steamrolled their divisional rival.

San Francisco was the first team to advance to the second round of the playoffs thanks to their 41-23 win. Now, we take some time to look at who stood out as both studs and duds in their Saturday win.

Stud: Deebo Samuel, WR

Deebo Samuel has been a superstar for quite a while but he constantly reminds us all what makes him so special. On Saturday, he was again making plays both as a receiver and on the ground but had one play that really stood out.

San Francisco was up 31-17 and Samuel ensured there would be no comeback attempt. He took a short pass from Brock Purdy and followed his blocking up the field for a 74-yard touchdown.

While Samuel gets the credit, this play showed why the Niners will be so hard to beat in the playoffs. Brandon Aiyuk was selflessly locking his man up downfield, allowing his teammate to make the big play. They all play as one on both sides of the ball, which can be tough to stop.

Stud: Charles Omenihu, EDGE

With several big-name stars on defense such as Nick Bosa and Fred Warner, it’s easy to forget about Charles Omenihu. A former fifth-round pick, Omenihu joined the 49ers last year in a trade with the Houston Texans and had a solid campaign in 2022.

He finished with 20 tackles and 4.5 sacks, which were both career highs. On Saturday, he continued to play well as he put pressure on Geno Smith several times. He finally broke through late in the third quarter when the Seahawks were trailing 23-17 and looking to take the lead back — or at least chip into it.

That didn’t happen as Omenihu sacked Smith and forced a fumble, which was recovered by Nick Bosa. The 49ers quickly took the ball downfield and put more points on the board as it proved to be a major swing in their favor.

For good measure, Omenihu recorded another sack late in the fourth as his team continued to make life hard on Seattle.
