The 2022 NFL regular season is officially in the books and it’s time to put some focus and attention on the future. With 18 teams eliminated from playoff contention and 14 teams getting ready to vie for the Super Bowl here as the 2023 calendar year gets underway, who will be at the helm of every NFL team this coming season?

Will there be some surprise names let go in the coming weeks among the head coaching ranks? Could there be some surprise retirements?

Surprises almost always happen in the NFL every year. Situations and circumstances change, and that’s why the NFL stands for “not for long” in a lot of instances. The hottest head coaching candidates last year may be afterthoughts in 2023. There are some interesting candidates and scenarios that could play out starting here on the day that’s known around the NFL as “Black Monday”. We’re going to take a stab at predicting every head coach for every NFL team in 2023 as the craziness gets underway.

Predicting NFC East head coaches in 2023 — Cowboys & Giants

Dallas Cowboys: Mike McCarthy or Dan Quinn

An early exit from the postseason could infuriate Jerry Jones, but will it prompt him to fire Mike McCarthy? McCarthy has largely done a solid coaching job this season considering the Cowboys lost Dak Prescott early in the year to an injury and were still able to be one of the best teams in the league almost all year.

If the Cowboys view McCarthy as the problem after an early playoff exit (should that happen) then perhaps their best option would be to turn to Dan Quinn, keep continuity with Kellen Moore calling the offense, and see what happens there. I don’t view McCarthy as likely to be fired, but with Jerry Jones, I guess it’s tough to know for sure.

New York Giants: Brian Daboll

We all know Brian Daboll won’t be going anywhere in 2023. In fact, he has done a good enough job to:

  • Get the Giants into the postseason in year one
  • Turn Daniel Jones’ career around
  • Become a Coach of the Year candidate
  • Pose a legitimate threat in January

The Giants are no fluke. This team wins with tough defense, a balanced if unspectacular offense, and good coaching. There’s no question that Daboll will be back for the GMen in 2023.
