As the Tampa Bay Buccaneers head into rebuild mode, one player that is likely to not return to the team is running back Leonard Fournette. Sure, the offensive line’s health, or lack thereof played a role in why the running game struggled. However, Fournette has struggled with a lack of explosiveness and he’s been a major contributor to the team’s poor running game. He has been dealing with an injury behind the scenes, a Lisfranc injury, which hasn’t been listed on the team’s injury report. We all waited for “Playoff Lenny,” to emerge — he didn’t show up, and we saw what happened in their blowout loss to the Cowboys.

Fournette was always a big back, a tire downhill runner, unfortunately, the explosiveness he once had hindered him this season. Couple that with the injury issues and the emergence of rookie running back Rachaad White, and it’s likely that the Buccaneers will look to move on from Fournette in the offseason.

The team needs to focus on finding players who will give them the best chance to win games and Fournette may not fit that criterion. The Buccaneers have a lot of decisions to make this offseason as they look to rebuild their roster and Fournette’s departure could be one of them.
