Ahead of the 2022 season, there were some trades that shook up the NFL. Here are five more that can have as big of an impact on the 2023 campaign.

For years, blockbuster trades were a rare occurrence in the NFL but recently, that hasn’t been the case. Just last year, we saw Russell Wilson, Davante Adams, and Deshaun Watson all traded to new teams. Then during the season, Christian McCaffrey landed with the San Francisco 49ers in another huge trade.

Now, we look ahead to the coming offseason and highlight five possible moves that could shake the league up in 2023.

5. Grady Jarrett to the San Francisco 49ers

The addition of Christian McCaffrey helped the San Francisco 49ers turn their season around and make a deep run in the playoffs despite being down to their third-string quarterback. While McCaffrey has been a huge help, the 49ers are still powered by their top-ranked defense.

They have stars at all three levels with Nick Bosa, Dre Greenlaw, Arik Armstead, Fred Warner, Charvarius Ward, and Talanoa Hufanga all playing huge roles. However, there’s been one spot where they can use more production.

San Francisco added Javon Kinlaw in the 2020 NFL Draft and he hasn’t turned into the playmaker they were looking for next to Armistead. For that reason, they could look for a more impactful player, and Grady Jarrett would surely fit the bill.

Jarrett is currently the best defender on the Atlanta Falcons, who could use more draft capital in an effort to rebuild that side of the ball. The Niners might not be loaded right now with tradable assets but they could land a haul, should they be willing to trade Trey Lance and keep Brock Purdy under center.

And that brings us to our next potential blockbuster move.
