Tom Brady has retired again, but this time it’s for good
On Wednesday morning, future Hall of Fame quarterback Tom Brady announced his retirement from the NFL, and this time, it’s for good. Well, that’s it. Perhaps the greatest career in professional sports history is over for good.
Tom Brady uploaded a video to his Twitter account on Wednesday morning announcing his retirement. He appears to be filming the video on the beach. In the 52-second clip, a teary-eyed Brady gives an emotional speech and makes it clear he’s retired for good.
The 2022 season for Brady was easily the worst in his NFL career. It was the first year he had a losing season and went one and done in the NFL playoffs. Rumors began to swirl that Brady could bolt for a new team for 2023, but it seems like the GOAT has had enough.
And I don’t blame him. He’s slowly approaching 50 years old and has given 23 years in the NFL, 20 with the New England Patriots and three with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. His accomplishments are too big to list in one article, but he’s a seven-time Super Bowl champion, 15 time Pro Bowler, and a five-time Super Bowl MVP.
He’s got over 100,000 passing yards in his career between the regular and postseason and 737 total touchdown passes. He’ll end his career as the most prolific passer and best overall player to ever touch an NFL field.
His impact on the game cannot be overstated, and the game will be much different without him. On the football side for his old team, the Buccaneers, they’ll go into the offseason with a massive question mark at quarterback.
Could they chase a veteran signal-caller? Perhaps. Could they also do a bit of rebuilding? Sure. Building a competitive NFL team is challenging, and quarterbacks like Tom Brady are able to cover up quite a bit of issues.
Congratulations on a great career, Tom Brady!
