Chicago Bears: 5 Draft targets who improved their stock in Senior Bowl
Jayden Reed, WR. Michigan State
The Chicago Bears desperately need to add some playmakers for quarterback Justin Fields. The receivers in 2022 could not create separation and could not make big plays when their number was called.
Jayden Reed can help change that. He had a big week in Mobile. He flashed his quickness and explosiveness. He also ran some great routes.
Reed showed his ability to create separation. He was able to create space not only in short-yardage situations but also over the top.
Reed can make plays either after the catch or in the backfield. He has great contact balance which helps him break tackles and does a good job of cutting to avoid would-be tacklers.
In addition to all of that, Reed is a very good blocker. He does a good job of sealing downfield but he also is a willing blocker at the line of scrimmage. This is something the Bears really like. We saw how Equanimeous St. Brown got himself a new contract despite not blowing it up on the field. He showed how dependable of a blocker he was and the team took notice.
In addition, Reed is a fan of Fields. He would love an opportunity to catch passes thrown by Fields.
This wide receivers draft class is deep. For a team that needs receivers, this is something good for the Bears. Reed could be a good Day 2 pick.
