Chicago Bears: 5 Draft targets who improved their stock in Senior Bowl
Will McDonald IV, EDGE, Iowa State
The Chicago Bears need help all along the defensive line, including defensive end. The Bears were unable to put any pressure on opposing quarterbacks last season. They ranked last in sacks and quarterback knockdowns and 31st in quarterback pressures.
That has to change. Opposing quarterbacks can’t be standing in the pocket eating a sandwich before finding an open receiver. No matter how good a secondary if the quarterback has all the time in the world eventually the secondary will break down.
Will McDonald IV had an incredible week. He showed that he was the best pass rusher on the field. He blew up some of the top offensive tackles in the nation during one-on-ones. He made Darnell Wright, one of the top tackles in college football, look bad on consecutive plays.
McDonald has been one of the most effective pass rushers in the nation. Despite that, he hasn’t gotten the attention that many of the other big names have. That is changing. He showed how great he is in the Senior Bowl. He could continue to rise after the NFL Combine and his Pro Day to be one of the top pass rushers to be picked.
