Chicago Bears: 5 Draft targets who improved their stock in Senior Bowl

The Chicago Bears will likely move to extend tight end Cole Kmet. Despite that, they still need some help at that position. While Kmet led all receivers with receiving yards, the Bears got nothing from the rest of the tight ends unit.

Kmet had 50 catches for 544 yards. The other three tight ends, Ryan Griffin, Trevon Wesco, and Jake Tonges, combined for 6 catches for 52 yards.

Poles will look to solidify the tight ends unit. He has said on a number of occasions that he wants to build a young, athletic team. Adding Payne Durham would accomplish that.

Durham had a very good week of practice. He not only showed that he was a good receiving tight end but also showed that he was a good blocker. He had such a good week that his peers voted him the National team practice player of the week.

Durham was all over the field in the game. In addition to blocking and receiving as a tight end, he also lined up as a fullback. He also played on the punt, punt returns, and field goal units.

That flexibility is valuable. The Bears covet flexibility and Durham gives them that.

Tony Pauline of Pro Football Network was impressed with Durham.

"Enter Payne Durham, who was dominant blocking early in the week then caught the ball extremely well on the final day. He made several nice receptions during end-zone drills and came away with several tough grabs in full scrimmage. Amongst them was a great catch, in a crowd, 25 yards downfield."

Durham and Kmet can cause some damage, especially in the red zone. The 6-foot-6, 260-pound Kmet and the 6-foot-5, 255-pound Durham in the red zone give Fields some good targets. It could result in a lot more touchdowns.

Durham would be a great pickup for the Chicago Bears. Having him and Kmet together gives them a great young duo that could wreak havoc for quite a long time.
