2023 NFL Mock Draft: Cowboys make surprise pick in Round 1

8. Atlanta Falcons: Bryan Bresee, DT, Clemson
At 7-10, the Atlanta Falcons were actually better than expected in 2022. They might have finished with a losing record but they had four one-score losses in a row near the end of the season which derailed their chances of making a playoff run.
They’re still in the midst of a rebuild and will be trying to decide if Desmond Ridder is the answer under center. If so, they could make some big strides in a hurry, especially if they land someone such as Bryan Bresee to add youth and explosion to the interior of their defensive line.
9. Carolina Panthers: Will Levis, QB, Kentucky
After cycling through Baker Mayfield, Sam Darnold, and P.J. Walker in 2022, the Carolina Panthers are going to be desperate for a new quarterback. Unfortunately, Matt Corral was injured and never got a chance to show what he can do, and that’s why they use this pick on Will Levis from Kentucky.
He’s far from a refined product but again, desperation at the most important position is what’s leading to this move.
The good news for Carolina is that they landed Frank Reich as their head coach who is not only a massive upgrade over Matt Rhule but is also a former quarterback who can help Levis get things figured out.
