Each year, there are teams in the NFL who surprise many and break out. For 2023, which three teams could take that crown and surprise some?  Between coaching hires, free agency hauls, and other factors, fresh faces will break out each year.

Last year, teams like the Detroit Lions and Minnesota Vikings were two breakout clubs.  They shocked many and combined won over 22 games in the regular season.

As the new league year sets to begin soon, all eyes will turn to the 2023 free agency period, draft, and summer offseason activities.

There are a few teams that I think can break out in the 2023 season; two from the AFC, and one from the NFC.  Which teams are they?

Three breakout teams to monitor for the 2023 NFL season?

Carolina Panthers

The first club that is going to surprise many in 2023, to me, without a shadow of a doubt is the Carolina Panthers.  They made a stellar hire in Frank Reich, and he’s continued to add great coaches to his staff in Ejiro Evero, Duce Staley, and Jim Caldwell.

They have a strong and young roster, and they also may have an opportunity to nab a serviceable quarterback in the offseason.  They are rumored to be interested in Derek Carr, who I think would be a marvelous fit.

The NFC South is wide open, so even someone like Jimmy Garoppolo signing with the Panthers would propel them to the front of the NFC South and be in a strong position to win the division and earn a home playoff game.

This is a team to monitor in 2023.
