Nick Sirianni’s club fell short in Super Bowl LVII. Now the Philadelphia Eagles face a tricky offseason in which numerous standouts could test free agency.

It was quite the year for Nick Sirianni’s club. The Philadelphia Eagles were the last team in the league to lose a game thanks to an 8-0 start. The Birds finished 14-3 and captured the NFC’s top seed in the playoffs. They scored 38, 31, and 35 points, respectively, in three postseason outings.

Unfortunately for Sirianni’s talented squad, it was also the last team in the NFL to lose a game during the 2022 season. The club couldn’t hold onto a 24-14 halftime lead in Super Bowl LVII and 35 points weren’t enough to defeat the Chiefs, 38-35.

It’s less than a week after that Super Sunday setback and there have already been a few major changes regarding the organization. Keep in mind that free agency is still a month away.

What’s Next for the Philadelphia Eagles?

It’s amazing how things can change so quickly in the National Football League. Less than 48 hours after the Eagles’ Super Bowl loss to the Chiefs, general manager Howie Roseman has to replace the club’s offensive coordinator (Shane Steichen) and defensive coordinator (Jonathan Gannon).

The former is the new head coach of the Indianapolis Colts and the latter is headed to the desert to take over the Arizona Cardinals. Will the team promote from within?

Biggest Offseason Concern?

The strength of the team lies in both the offensive and defensive lines. The Eagles have numerous potential free agents in both trenches (via Spotrac). All-Pro center Jason Kelce and right guard Isaac Seumalo headline the offensive front while defensive linemen Fletcher Cox, Javon Hargrave, and Brandon Graham could also test the open market come March 15.

The good news for Roseman is that the Eagles own the 10th and 30th overall picks in April’s draft. The team could fill some holes in the trenches if some of these players opt to move on or retire.

The last team to lose the Super Bowl and then win the Lombardi Trophy a year later was the 2018 New England Patriots. They lost to the Eagles in LII and beat the Rams in LIII. Quarterback Jalen Hurts continues to develop and Roseman has done a masterful job. These Birds don’t look like a one-hit-wonder.
