Chicago Bears Free Agency 2023: 3 Defensive tackles to target
Jarran Reed, Green Bay Packers
If the Chicago Bears pick up Jarran Reed, they hit two birds with one stone. They will upgrade their defense and help weaken the Green Bay Packers.
Jarran Reed isn’t a flashy or elite player. He is, however, a very solid player. He will fit in and play well whenever he’s on the field. In 2022, the 6-foot-3, 313-pounder played all 17 games and recorded 52 tackles, 14 QB hits, 2.5 sacks, 2 fumble recoveries, and a forced fumble.
One of the problems the Chicago Bears had in 2022 was getting to the quarterback. In addition to stuffing the run, Reed gets to the quarterback. In his career, he has 27 sacks and 84 quarterback hits.
An important thing to keep in mind is that the Bears need some depth. Reed can give them that. He doesn’t have to start. As I mentioned, he is a solid player. Poles can sign him and still get a highly-rated defensive tackle in the draft. Signing Reed won’t break the bank. He’ll cost anything between $3-5 million. He’d be a great addition who could provide good depth and do well in a spot start.
