A lot of people are just going to think of “contenders” when looking at what teams could make a trade like this with Jalen Ramsey, but he could also go to a team that is actively trying to change a culture by winning as soon as possible. And if you think DeMeco Ryans signed up for a super long rebuilding project, I would say you’re wrong. There will be a degree of toughness to the first couple of years of Ryans’ tenure in Houston, but he can put together a defense rather quickly that can compete in the AFC South.

And adding Jalen Ramsey could be part of that.

DeMeco Ryans has been coaching for the 49ers the last handful of years and undoubtedly knows Jalen Ramsey very well. He inherited a defense in Houston that already has major pieces in the secondary in 2022 draft picks Derek Stingley Jr. and Jalen Pitre.

Adding a player like Ramsey to the mix would instantly take this unit to the next level, and they have plenty of cap space to add other players to the mix. As a matter of fact, they have over $37 million already. Houston could very easily make this trade in terms of their available draft capital as well given the fact they have the Cleveland Browns’ first-round picks for the next couple of years.

Could they get a building block at pick no. 12 overall? Probably. Could they get a better player over the next four years than Jalen Ramsey? Probably not.
