9. Robert Tonyan, Green Bay Packers

Since his massive season back in 2020, Robert Tonyan has come crashing back to earth a little bit. He played just eight games in 2021 after catching 11 touchdowns in the 2020 season. He bounced back to play every game in 2022 with 53 receptions and a pair of touchdowns. The Packers have involved Tonyan pretty heavily in the offense the last three years but there is a reason why they are rumored to be all over this year’s tight end class in the NFL Draft.

Tonyan is a solid option on a short-term deal, maybe even a safe option, but not a game-changing option at the position.

10. Josh Oliver, Baltimore Ravens

Once upon a time, NFL Draft folks absolutely loved Josh Oliver. When he was coming out of San Jose State, Oliver had a little bit of everything going for him. He has a great frame, athleticism, and pass-catching ability, and it felt like the Jaguars had gotten themselves a bargain at pick no. 69 overall. Unfortunately, injuries have derailed his career until recently. He was let go by the Jags after appearing in just four games in two seasons.

The Ravens took a shot on him in 2021 and 2022 and he wound up playing his most extensive action in 2022, catching a pair of touchdown passes. NFL teams might like Oliver’s upside more than some of the older TEs on this list.

Honorable mention NFL free agent tight ends

OJ Howard, Texans

A former first-round pick, Howard may still have talent that NFL teams will fall for. Unfortunately, the production just has not been there for him in recent years. He should still get another shot.

Eric Saubert, Broncos

Saubert did a little of everything for the Broncos as a blocker, receiver, and special teams player. He should be able to land a job as a TE2 or TE3 relatively easily.

MyCole Pruitt, Falcons

Pruitt had four touchdowns this past season for the Atlanta Falcons. He has at least two touchdowns in each of the last three seasons and has proven to be a valuable backup.
