2. Carolina Panthers

The Carolina Panthers look like they are starting to build something really special under head coach Frank Reich. Reich has assembled a super-staff in his first year with Carolina, a staff that includes former Denver Broncos defensive coordinator Ejiro Evero.

Evero is an obvious connection with Dre’Mont Jones from their one year in Denver together, and certainly you have to think with the way Jones played in that defense, he might be interested in doing so again.

Before I go on about how this might be a good fit, let me pour a little bit of cold water on my own idea.

Dre’Mont Jones could go sign in Carolina with a reunion between he and Ejiro Evero as a primary focus, but that may be short-lived. It’s very possible that Ejiro Evero gets head coaching looks again in the 2024 cycle and takes a job this time around. Then, the connection between Evero and Jones would be gone in Carolina.

Given the number of zeroes being added to Jones’ bank account, in all likelihood, I don’t think that’s going to be a deal-breaker.

Jones would be a tremendous addition for the Panthers’ defensive front and obviously would be someone Evero could really rely on as he transitions into his new role. The Panthers, like many NFL teams at this point, need to clear cap space. They also need a quarterback. They may not be the most likely team to go after a big-time defensive player like Dre’Mont Jones but with that connection to Ejiro Evero, you never know.
