3. Philadelphia Eagles

As we approach NFL free agency, I think we are once again underestimating the aggressiveness of Eagles general manager Howie Roseman. Roseman has been nothing short of a magician these last handful of years putting together the Eagles’ roster. He has done such a great job of filling needs, making smart trades, and bringing in talent to load up the roster year after year and it resulted in an NFC title in 2022.

The Eagles have a couple of really prominent free agents on the defensive line in Fletcher Cox and Javon Hargrave. Will they bring one back? Both? Neither?

The Eagles are typically in the market for younger free agents and Dre’Mont Jones is an ascending player who just turned 26. The Eagles could choose to say some difficult goodbyes to players like Cox and Hargrave and say hello to someone like Dre’Mont Jones.

Jones, more than anything with Denver, seems sick of losing. He wasn’t used to doing much of that when he was at Ohio State, and he hasn’t liked it in Denver. The Eagles obviously are one of the best teams in the league right now so you could see them being an attractive team to Jones from that vantage point.

The Eagles also just hired Sean Desai to run their defense, and Desai comes from the Vic Fangio coaching tree. It’s a scheme that Jones will be familiar with and he could pair up with Jordan Davis to give Philadelphia a heck of a presence on the defensive front.
