Alex Singleton, LB, Denver Broncos

The trend in the NFL is to have linebackers who play like safeties in coverage. However, there is still a need for good, downhill players who play well against the run.

Alex Singleton isn’t the best in pass coverage but he is an efficient defender who helps stop the run.

Singleton signed with the Eagles as an undrafted rookie in 2019. He signed a one-year deal with the Denver Broncos in 2022 and had a very good season. He had a career-high 163 tackles. Additionally, he had just seven missed tackles on a defense that ranked sixth in ESPN’s defensive efficiency rankings.

The Chicago Bears were horrible against the run. They ranked 31st in rushing yards allowed and last in rushing touchdowns allowed. This is something we aren’t used to seeing from the Bears’ defense. Singleton can step in and help improve that.

While he isn’t elite in pass coverage, he isn’t a liability. In 2022, he allowed only 5.5 yards per completion. Even when a pass is completed against him, the receiver will not get far after the catch against Singleton.

Moreover, Singleton is a player who has the ability to play all three linebacker positions. He will give the Bears great added depth and would be a good starter in a pinch. This would be a good signing that could help strengthen the defense.
