2. The NY Jets should sign RB D’Onta Foreman in free agency

If the Jets are serious about making a run in 2023, they’d better load up on talent and improve their depth. Their running back could certainly use a hand. There’s no doubt the passing game last season was bad but their running attack wasn’t much better, ranking 25th in rushing yards and 21st in rushing touchdowns.

It’s true that opponents often stacked up the box because Zach Wilson didn’t pose a threat but the Jets could use a running back that can get some tough yards and move the chains. Saquon Barkley and Josh Jacobs won’t be available in the open market because their respective clubs applied the franchise tag on them. Miles Sanders will most likely be the top running back available in free agency but New Year might not be able to make a competitive bid for his services due to their dearth of cap space.

One player that could be within the Jets’ budget is D’Onta Foreman, who made the most of his chances after the Carolina Panthers traded Christian McCaffrey to the San Francisco 49ers. As a featured back, Foreman toted the rock 203 times for 914 yards and five rushing touchdowns in 2022.

A third-round pick by the Houston Texans in 2017, Foreman had logged just 240 carries before the 2022 season, so he’ll go into the open market without much tread on the tires. In New York, he could form a dynamic backfield trio with Michael Carter and Breece Hall.
