The Chicago Bears have had an excellent 2023 offseason

The Chicago Bears came into this offseason with loads of money and the first overall pick, and they have made great use of each thus far.  Admittedly, I had no idea what Ryan Poles was attempting to do in his first year as the Chicago Bears’ General Manager.

Now, in his second year, there is a clear plan that has been put in place.  The Bears had the most resources going into this offseason; they had a ton of cap space and still do and also had the first overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft.

While there were rumors that they could have taken a QB in the draft at first overall, those rumors were quickly quashed as the team dealt the first overall pick in 2023 to the Carolina Panthers.

Included in the return for this year was star wide receiver DJ Moore, the ninth overall pick, and the 61st overall pick.

Now, Chicago has several picks inside the top 100, a true WR1, and what appears to be the early stages of a franchise QB.  Trading down and getting the haul that they did was a stellar move.

Furthermore, the Bears could still land one of their top players on the board picking ninth overall.  Northwestern tackle Peter Skoronski could be the perfect selection in the perfect spot for the Chicago Bears.

To fix their offensive line thus far, they handed former Tennessee Titans’ guard Nate Davis a $30 million contract. Davis and Teven Jenkins are now one of the better guard duos in the NFL, and if Chicago gets a high-end tackle prospect in 2023, watch out for that rebuilt offensive line.

I also do like the moves they made on their defense.  They got two stud linebackers in Tremaine Edmunds and TJ Edwards.  The focus should be on the offense, but the Bears defense was quite poor in 2022.

Overall, Chicago has done a fabulous job thus far rebuilding this roster and putting a winning product on the field.
