Team #4 – Green Bay Packers

The 2023 NFL Draft will be the first season for the Green Bay Packers (presumably) without Aaron Rodgers since 2005. If the New York Jets successfully tempt Rodgers away from Green Bay this will be quarterback Jordan Love’s first start since he was drafted 26th overall in 2020.

Packers fans seem ready to move on from the never-ending speculation surrounding Rodgers and are embracing Love as their starter of the future. Packers head coach Matt LaFleur however is trying to brace fans as Love will be attempting to fill gigantic shoes. Love has promise but Packers fans have had the luxury of watching Brett Favre and Aaron Rodgers for the last two decades.

Having two Hall of Famers as your last two starting quarterbacks is not a situation most football teams are familiar with. The Packers are going to have to use this draft to boost up the team on all sides of the ball to complement the learning curve Love is likely about to experience.

The Packers spent both of their first-round picks in 2022 on defense (Georgia Bulldogs Devonte Wyatt and Quay Walker). In the 2023 NFL Draft, the Packers have 10 picks and will be selecting players in every round except for the 6th. The Packers have already experienced life without All-Pro receiver Davante Adams but now life without Aaron Rodgers will require an upheaval of support. The Packers have the opportunity to draft a number of impact players on both defense and offense to support Love. If the Packers miss on a portion of these picks this could make Love’s introduction as the starter that much more difficult.
