2. New England Patriots should trade for Aaron Rodgers

It’s getting to the point lately that you can’t help but feel like the end is coming in the somewhat-near future for New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick. Belichick has been at this for such a long time. There have been some rumors of his retirement circulating in recent years and there’s no doubt that he’s cemented his legacy as a Hall of Fame NFL head coach, probably the greatest coach of all time.

It’s been reported recently that Mac Jones is not exactly on the good side of Belichick, so what if Belichick decided to give himself one more window with Rodgers under center as his quarterback after working for two decades with Tom Brady?

It’s an interesting thought, to say the least.

If Belichick doesn’t view Mac Jones as his future franchise QB, then anything should be on the table here. The Patriots wouldn’t have to trade Mac Jones to the Packers in exchange for Rodgers, but they could trade their first-round pick to get Rodgers and perhaps some conditional picks into the future as well.

Then, New England could recoup some assets in a Mac Jones trade after that.

Whatever the case, I think the Patriots would obviously be an infinitely better team with Rodgers running the show compared to Mac Jones. Bill O’Brien was just hired in the 2023 offseason to be the new offensive coordinator for the Patriots and there is plenty of smoke to these rumors that the Pats want to make a change at the QB position.

We’ll see what eventually winds up happening here, but I do not hate the idea of the Patriots swooping in and stealing Rodgers away from their division rivals in New York. The torture for Jets fans would reach a new level if that happened.
