3 under-the-radar prospects in the 2023 NFL Draft
By Jalen Wilson
2. Kenny McIntosh, RB, Georgia
Year after year, running backs become less likely to be picked in the first round. But teams are always looking to choose a running back in the later rounds of the draft. For example, in last year’s NFL Draft, the Kansas City Chiefs selected Isiah Pacheco in the 7th round with the 251st pick. Pacheco was the leading rusher for this past season’s Super Bowl-winning team.
McIntosh would be another running back the team could take a chance on. Due to McIntosh sharing carries at Georgia, his stats won’t catch some fans’ eyes. In his college career, McIntosh rushed for 1,582 yards and 16 touchdowns. Mcintosh isn’t just a one-trick pony; he caught 76 passes for 861 yards and 4 touchdowns.
On film, you can see McIntosh’s strengths and weaknesses; McIntosh possesses good hands and has a nice feel as a pass catcher. He is dangerous in the open field and has good vision, and patience, letting blocks develop. A glaring weakness in Mintosh’s game is his pass blocking, but he got better in his last season with Georgia. McIntosh also lacks breakaway speed.
It is believed that McIntosh will be a day three draft pick; McIntosh is 6’1, 204-pounds is projected to be an RB2 with the potential of becoming an RB1. McIntosh would fit perfectly on a team that is looking for an RB in this year’s NFL Draft.
