3 under-the-radar prospects in the 2023 NFL Draft
By Jalen Wilson
1. Kayshon Boutte, WR, LSU
Before the start of the Previous college football season, scouts believed that Boutte would be one of the top wide receivers in the NFL Draft. But things went south quickly as Boutte wasn’t getting the ball thrown his way and seemed to have a rocky relationship. Also, the injury bug caught up with Boutee, as these things led to his draft stock drastically dropping.
In his LSU career, Boutte had 131 receptions, 1,782 yards, and 16 touchdowns. However, the big reason why Boutte doesn’t have great stats is because of injury, which is his biggest weakness. Back in 2021, Boutte suffered a fracture in his right ankle. Boutte then had to have two surgeries which kept him out until the begging of the 2022-23 season.
What made Boutte so attractive to scouts were his strengths. Boutte is a savvy route runner with reliable hands and the ability to stretch the field. You also have Boutte’s upside ad an NFL player to go along with everything. He was once viewed as a top prospect, but due to injuries and conflicts, he had with the head coach. However, nobody can deny his talent on the field and his potential.
Some of LSU’s recent wide receivers to be selected for a pro bowl were Jarvis Landry, Odell Beckham Jr., Ja’Marr Chase, and Justin Jefferson. Boutte could be the next wide receiver selected in the NFL Draft to be included.
