The NFL Draft is the time when teams assess and evaluate prospects but is also used for teams to formulate trades for established players. Last year, we saw A.J. Brown and Marquise Brown traded during the draft, and at some point, during this draft, there will be players dealt for draft compensation.

There have been players that have been put on the trade market by their respective teams this offseason, and some of those players are still available. Let’s take a look at a few players that have a solid chance of being traded during the 2023 NFL Draft.

1. Aaron Rodgers could be traded during the 2023 NFL Draft

This is the most obvious candidate to be traded during the draft. It is well-documented that the Packers and Jets have been in dialogue over the 39-year-old quarterback. However, trade compensation has not been finalized for Rodgers.

Adam Schefter reported on Tuesday that the two teams’ discussions have stalled out.

"“Both sides now appear to be dug in,” Schefter said. “My understanding is there hasn’t been a whole lot of conversation, if any, over the last couple of weeks.” via Gang Green Nation"

This is something that will eventually get done, and it is in the best interest of both teams to get this done.

It is trending to occur during the draft, and with there being a better understanding of the draft board, it could give the Jets more clarity about what type of draft compensation they are willing to give up for Rodgers.

Because Rodgers has been open about retiring, there is doubt that this is a multi-year proposition for the Jets. Green Bay is probably seeking a first-round pick in 2024, but that will probably have to be a second-round pick that can become a first-round selection if Rodgers plays in 2024.

Expect both teams to rekindle the trade discussions during the draft. At this point, I would not bank on Rodgers being traded before the draft.
