As per usual with Washington Commanders owner Dan Snyder, he’s been dissatisfying fans yet again and this time is the timetable in which he’s selling the franchise. The latest news doesn’t give much up moving forward either.

According to John Keim of ESPN, Amazon owner Jeff Bezos won’t be making a bid for the historic team. However, there has been a lot of back-and-forth between the two sides.

"“Bezos had some interest in buying the franchise, and his presence hovered over the proceedings despite his never having made a bid. He even hired a firm, Allen & Co., to explore a bid.In March, a source close to Bezos said Commanders owners Dan and Tanya Snyder were blocking him from the bidding, which multiple sources close to the Snyders denied.”"

It should be noted that two groups have made offers for the teams. One group is headlined by Josh Harris (Philadelphia 76ers and New Jersey Devils owners), Mitchell Rales, and Magic Johnson. The other group was headlined by Steve Apostolopoulos who is a Canadian billionaire.

Not having a sale of the team is having negative impacts on the team.

The negatives of not having a sell for the Washington Commanders yet.

Let’s start with what has already happened this offseason. At the end of the year, there was a case that Ron Rivera should have been let go and a new owner could have made that call, but with Snyder in place, there appears to be less reason to move on from the head coach he hired.

Then there was free agency and a new owner might have wanted to make a splashier move than re-signing Daron Payne. Don’t be mistaken, re-signing Payne was the right choice, but the franchise could have gone after MVP quarterback Lamar Jackson under new leadership.

Now it’s about two weeks before the 2023 NFL draft and yet still no credible movement on the ownership front. There is a chance Commanders’ fans will have to suffer another draft under Snyder.

Whoever comes in at this point can’t put their fingerprints on the Washington Commanders franchise until next season, which should frustrate both the new ownership and fans alike.
