According to Adam Schefter, Allen Robinson has been traded to the Pittsburgh Steelers. This would give the Steelers a very nice wide receiver room of Dionate Johnson, Allen Robinson, and George Pickens. While none of those players are top wide receivers in the league, they are solid wideouts that give Kenny Pickett even more weapons.

As reported by Schefter, the Rams are receiving a swap from their 251st overall pick to the 234th overall pick.  That is a move up of 17 spots in the seventh round.  Additionally, the Steelers are only taking back $5 million of his salary this season with the Rams picking up the rest.

The Steelers do have to worry about Robinson’s cap hit next season but if he doesn’t perform, the Steelers can cut him and get a savings of little less than $2 million (according to Overthecap, assuming his contract doesn’t get renegotiated as part of the trade)

For the Rams, this trade signals even further a halt on the moves made last offseason. L.A.’s already made moves this offseason that signaled that they were at least taking a step back and the COO even suggested as much during an email to season ticket holders.

While the COO’s letter did not suggest that they were fully rebuilt, it said that they were taking on their lumps of salary cap coal. This move is certainly something that follows that order.

When they signed Robinson and players like Bobby Wagner, it seemed the Rams were pushing the bill further down the line and still believed this team was a contender. This season provided that they have a bit of way ago if they want to reach the heights they made in their super run two seasons ago.

The Steelers still need to upgrade their offensive line but if they can do that, Pittsburgh can give Kenny Pickett all he needs to succeed. The only real thing that can stop Picket from succeeding at this point is himself, the offensive line, and Pittsburgh’s offensive coordinator Matt Canada.

While the debate about whether Canada is even okay as an offensive coordinator can be saved for a later article, it seems like Pickett could have all the tools to succeed if the Steelers are able to invest wisely in the offensive line position.
