Chicago Bears final mock draft before the 2023 NFL Draft

The 2023 NFL Draft is almost upon us. In less than two weeks (April 27th) all the pomp and circumstance begin and teams like the Chicago Bears begin their quest to improve their teams.

General manager Ryan Poles has been busy this offseason trying to overhaul the roster. He hopes that the negativity of a 3-14 season is behind the team. He took full advantage of having the most salary cap space in the league by going out and signing a dozen players.

The main objective of this offseason is to get quarterback Justin Fields as much help as possible. There were questions about whether Poles was solidly behind Fields. Fields was not his pick at such an important position and drafting a new one would reset the rookie clock.

Poles showed that he was indeed behind Fields. In addition to the fat wallet in free agency, he had the number one overall pick. He ended up trading that pick for a few other draft picks and wide receiver D.J. Moore. Moore gives Fields his best receiving target.

Additionally, Poles signed offensive guard Nate Davis to help protect Fields and another receiving target in tight end Robert Tonyan.

Now it is time for the draft. While some might think that with the offensive help he got in free agency Poles might go heavy on defense in the draft. Instead, in this mock he gets even more help for Fields. This is the season for Poles and the Bears to really find out what they have in Fields.

Next season could have a good quarterback class. If Fields shows that he isn’t the guy, then Poles can pivot and go after a quarterback with one of his two first-round picks.
