Chicago Bears mock draft starts with OT Broderick Jones

OT. 1. player. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. Georgia. Broderick Jones. 814

The Chicago Bears select a Georgia Bulldog in the first round of the draft but it isn’t who you might think. In this draft, some of the top names linked to the Bears, Jalen Carter and Paris Johnson, were already surprisingly taken.

Broderick Jones is still a great pickup here. One of the things we need to expect Poles to go after is athletic, quick, and fast prospects. Jones checks the boxes. He is ultra-athletic, having been a former basketball player. He has great size at 6-foot-5, 311 pounds.

Jones has very good footwork and can stay squared with any pass rusher. He can block in a zone scheme or use his power. That power is used to blow open holes for the running game, which was a strength for the Bears in 2022.

Jones uses his hands well. He has a great initial punch to knock a pass rusher off balance. He gets his hands on the defender’s chest quickly and in an upward motion. That helps stop or slow down the rush.

Jones has great body control and can recognize stunts right away and adjust accordingly.

While Jones isn’t Johnson, he is still an excellent pick here.
