61. Marvin Mims Jr., WR, Oklahoma

815. WR. Oklahoma. Marvin Mims Jr. 61. player. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis

After getting protection for Fields in the first round, the Chicago Bears get him another receiving target. Yes, Poles went and re-signed Dante Pettis. However, Pettis likely sees more time on special teams (like a punt returner) more than as a receiver.

Marvin Mims will be able to contribute more to the offense. One of the troubles that Pettis had last season was dropping passes in critical situations. He dropped a number of third-down passes that ended a few drives. He also had drops of potential touchdown passes.

Mims will add a deep threat. He is a big play waiting to happen. Last season, 63 percent of his targets were 10+ yards down the field and for his college career he averaged 19.5 yards per catch.

Mims has great speed and runs great routes to put pressure on the defense. He gives them double moves and leaves them in the dust. This is something the Bears receivers lacked last season. They weren’t able to create separation and Fields had trouble having confidence in their ability to make plays (especially after Darnell Mooney went down with an injury).

Once he gets the ball in his hands, Mims is dangerous. He is able to shake potential tacklers and has a number of moves to get free.

Mims will make big plays in the offense and will certainly help Fields.
