Chicago Bears final mock draft before the 2023 NFL Draft
133. Myles Brooks, CB, Louisiana Tech
Poles used his first-ever draft pick on a cornerback. Now he gets another one here to compete for a starting job or at least give the secondary quality depth.
Poles selected Kyler Gordon last year. He struggled at first but improved as the season progressed. He could play either outside or the slot but the slot seems to be a better fit for him.
At 6-foot-1 and 201 pounds, Myles Brooks has the length to succeed on the outside. Additionally, he has good speed and quickness. He could stay with any receiver.
Brooks tracks the ball like a wide receiver and goes for the ball at its highest point. He is a tough, high-energy player who will fight receivers for the ball. He uses great hand usage to knock the ball out of the receiver’s hands. Additionally, could hit them at the line of scrimmage and knock them off their route. In 2022, Brooks had 12 passes defended and recorded 3 interceptions.
Brooks has not gotten a lot of attention because he only played one season at the FBS level. He previously played at Stephen A Austin. He had a good season, though, and should be ready to play at the next level and thrive.
