Aaron Rodgers makes Jets super bowl contenders after blockbuster trade
According to Adam Schefter, the New York Jets have finally traded for Aaron Rodgers. The saga that has gone on for what has felt like weeks on end on whether the Jets were finally gonna saddle up for their QB.
They are sending the Packers a second-round pick this year (42nd overall) and their sixth-round pick (207th overall) in 2023, and a future conditional second-rounder that becomes a first-rounder if Rodgers plays 65 percent of his snaps in 2023.

Additionally, the Packers are swapping first-round picks with the Jets this year as they are moving up to the 13th spot and New York is moving back to the 15th spot. The Jets will also get back a 5th-round pick (170th).
For the Packers, they were able to get great value for a player who publicly wanted to go to another team or he would retire. Being able to get a first-round pick not even dependent on the fact that Rodgers played past this season is very huge for Green Bay. Pending an injury or something crazy, Rodgers will play more than 65 percent of the snaps.
Additionally, the Packers will be able to move ahead of the Patriots and probably pick the first or second-best wide receiver in this draft.
The Packers were able to avoid any language that Aaron Rodgers had to play two years to get a first-round pick and that is very impressive given the situation.
The Jets are Super Bowl contenders with this move. This move still allows them to fill a hole on their offensive line with their first-round pick. If they are able to hit on their offensive line pick, this is a really good team.
Coming into this season, New York has one of the best defenses in the league. Adding Chuck Clark to this secondary was a very nice addition. They still have great players in Sauce Gardner, D.J. Reed, Jordan Whitehead, and Quinnen Williams starting on their defense.
On offense, this team has great players on offense such as Laken Tomlinson, Alijah Vera-Tucker, Garrett Wilson, Tyler Conklin, and C.J. Uzomah (let’s not forget Breece Hall) Again pending them picking a solid offensive tackle in this draft, this team has very few holes.
Jets general manager Joe Douglas has built a really good team and his seat may have been hot if he wasn’t able to get a starting-level QB this offseason. Now, Aaron Rodgers just has to be a starting-level QB to make this team a real contender.
The Chiefs, Bills, and Bengals just got a new competitor for the race to the super bowl in the AFC. Joe Douglas upgraded the Jets at their biggest weakness and now has made them that new competitor for AFC.
