17. Pittsburgh Steelers: Joey Porter Jr., CB, Penn State

The Pittsburgh Steelers can’t pass up on the opportunity to take a legacy player here in Joey Porter Jr., which has been my favorite mock draft selection for the Steelers up to this point. It’s just too obvious not to happen, right? I think this one has been relatively spoken into existence at this point. Joey Porter Jr.’s dad obviously played for the Pittsburgh Steelers years ago, and he was a key piece to their dominant defense. Now, you get some of that flavor of toughness and ‘edge” at the cornerback position from his son.

18. Detroit Lions: Peter Skoronski, OT, Northwestern

The Detroit Lions took a relatively “risky” pick earlier in Jalen Carter, and here they go with one of the safest players in the class. At least, as “safe” as a draft pick can be. The whole thing is a crapshoot. Peter Skoronski projects as a tackle/guard at the next level and I think he’s going to start for you for a decade, probably at the guard spot. The Lions have done so well to build in the trenches the last handful of years and Skoronski keeps them on-brand.
