The Chicago Bears had an impactful NFL Draft this weekend. After picking up 11 picks in 2022 general manager Ryan Poles added 10 more. Here are our grades.

Well, the 2023 NFL Draft came and went this weekend. The Chicago Bears had an impactful time. General manager Ryan Poles stated that he wanted to rebuild the roster mainly through the draft. That is exactly what he is doing.

When he took over, the team had just five picks. He converted those picks into a total of 11. With his trades in 2022 and this offseason ahead of the draft, he added 10 picks in this draft. Having 21 picks in two drafts certainly helps rebuild the roster.

The difference in this draft from last year’s draft, however, is where the Bears pick. In 2022, Poles made eight selections from the fifth round to the seventh. This year, though, six of his ten picks came in the first four rounds.

Like he’s done with this entire offseason, Poles had a plan for the draft. He had certain qualities he was looking for and knew where he felt he had to reinforce. He went out, and despite some of the fans’ groaning, picked up the prospects he felt would fit into head coach Matt Eberflus‘ HITS principle. He looked for tough, athletic, and fast players and did a pretty good job of sticking to that plan.

This wasn’t a sexy draft for Poles. However, it was exactly what the team needed to take a step up and improve upon their three-win season in 2022.

Here are our grades for all 10 of the Chicago Bears’ picks in the 2023 NFL Draft.
